This slithered it's way into my last shipment from Khurasan... A hideous whatchamacallit from another world.
Pictured here on a 25mm round base I dressed up with coffee stirrer and texture gel.
I used gloss varnish on this fella. Seemed appropriate and helped smooth it all together.
Gah! Kill it with fire!
ReplyDeleteYou got the colours bang-on, and I like the base. Sometimes splintered wood doesn't seem to scale properly, but this looks just right. And the snow is just that clear acrylic-based gel with little beads in it?
Thank you kindly Allison!
DeleteThe snow is Coarse Acrylic Texture Gel. It's the same stuff used on the "dirt" part of the base under the floorboards, only brushed directly onto the finished wood.
It looks good as snow without paint, as it's translucent. I've got a painted example representing thicker snow coming up next!
Amazing! gotta agree with the wood & snow comment... it both looks like realistic snow (in small amounts) but also salt. I have Vallejo heavy transparent gel but don't think this is it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jazi!
DeleteYou know, if you throw salt on a shape changing space monster... It still kills you.
Very nice like that alot!
ReplyDeleteCheers Brummie!
DeleteNice work Spacejacker - certainly looks abominable :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tamsin! Sure is the last Thing I'd want to run into in the snow...
DeleteGreat work Spacejacker. I agree wholeheartedly about the base. Very nice effect indeed.
ReplyDeleteCheers mate!
DeleteYou know, GR.. I think it's my first sceneic base on this blog?! This mini reminded me so much of a scene from a mivie that I had to do the busted up floorboards.
Hi, Jacker. Nice work on an ugly thingamajiggy. And the base is up to your standards!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jay, "The Thingamajiggy from another world" was the original movie script tile, but it wouldn't fit on the Marquee poster!
