Walker begun

Base coat of VMC U.S Dark Green and a wash of Agrax earthshade (I had a bottle of Devlan mud saved, but it had gone bad somehow.)
Then a little drybrush with a lightened up base colour.
While painting the main body I decided to add a magazine to the weapon, using a chopped up Karman gun.

Time for bed now, tomorrow I'll reinforce the gun join with some putty and do some detailing.

  1. If you have a chance, try the Army Painter strong tone... it has replaced devlan mud for me, and I actually like it better...

    1. Cheers Brummie! Yeah it's OK, but a bit browner than the ol' Devlan.

  3. Great work! A Walker with a clip, now that's clever...and looks neat too.

  4. Another nice work in progress. I wonder about trying the Army Painter Strong Tone- I've got a bottle of the Vallejo Umber Shade to try, as this is apparently similar to Devlan Mud. Any thoughts?

    1. Both are good replacements from what I understand. Next I will have to source some and try them.

  5. Looking good, I've got some of these figures myself, though never thought of using them for 15mm stuff.

  6. I have been looking for a way to arm the 20+ of these I have tricked out as combat walkers for 15mm.

  7. I have to join in and say that I picked up all the Army Painter Washes as I only have 1-1/2 pots of Devlan left and I like them all. And strong is pretty darn close to Devlan.
