Laserburn Redemtionist and Board pimping

I painted this guy recently just for fun. He is a 15mm.co.uk "Disciple of the redemption" from the Laserburn range. As usual, the Laserburn sculpt reveals more goodness the more you paint it. In my games he will be a terrifying jetpack-equipped bounty hunter.

I went with a simple red and black scheme, but his armor is so interesting you could approach it a variety of ways and look good.

I have also added some grey drybrushing to my 45cm skirmish board to encourage me to play some test games of my homebrew rules.

Thanks for looking!

  1. Very nice, the battle board loaded with fantastic terrain takes the cake. Of course any Laserburn figs painted to this standard are always going to rock.

    1. Thanks Mik! I need to get my terrain split firmly into shanty/ruins a little better, and I think this board will be the shanty one. I also think I need some more laserburn figs for another new genre I just made up.

    1. I have a documented problem with getting distracted by terrain building, so there will be some more soon, or at the very least, tarting up of old terrain ;)

    1. Thanks Brummie! I think the board needs a tiny bit more work to make the color changes less stark, but spending time on youe terrain is always time well spent!

  10. Is that textured wallpaper to create the surface on that board? Nice idea to do a small skirmish board with that level of detail.

None of the terrain pieces are mounted now correct?

    1. The board is a picture frame with a square of latex gaming mat stuck inside. The mat is from zuzzy.com and I strongly recommend them!

The terrain is all loose now, yes.

  12. As usual, fantastic. Once I get through my current burst of 28mm post apoc, I am doing one of these skirmish boards for 15mm. Love the simple frame as well.

    1. Its 45cm square... So smaller. Its for shootouts with 5 or less minis per side.

  14. Hi, Jacker: You are not afraid to try new paint schemes! Looks good. The game board makes one drool, wanting to hunker down, roll dice, and move troops. Super job!

  15. Well done Jacker! I like the Redemptionist figure in particular. It looks like just the thing for my religious nut leader (last post) to recruit. I'll have a look at the 15mm.co.uk site to see if they have any other poses. Thanks for the post!

  17. NICE Redemptionist! He's really menacing for someone so short ;) He also vaguely reminds me of 80's-era Space Marine Terminator armour for some reason.

I'm still a little wary of a lot of 15mm.co.uk's wares as their website pics often do not flatter the figures, but your paint jobs never fail to give them character and bring out the best in them.

    1. Thanks Alison! I now what you mean, and not everything there is ti my taste, but the Laserburn range is really pretty exquisite. There is always more detail revealed while painting than first meets the eye. They are also quite unlike most of what is on offer elsewhere. I'm going to paint some Centalons today to make that very point ;)

  18. Fantastic! Haven't looked at the Laserburn stuff much but you've persuaded me to give it another look when I do my next 15mm.co.uk.order.
